Jesus said, that we should pray for Father’s “will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven” (Matthew 6:10).
When someone claims to be a Christian, yet is operating apart from Father’s will, can they be considered a Christian? Can someone who does whatever they want, be a true beacon of Christ’s Light and Gospel? Can such a person actually lead anyone to God’s Truth and to God? Is Father’s will being done on earth, as it is in Heaven with people that “run their own show”? Do counterfeit Christians fool God?
Answers to all of these questions is, no!
Satan corrupts and pollutes minds today, just as he did with the Israelites in the Old Testament. He makes people believe, that God doesn’t mind whatever we do, telling us that we are always covered with His grace and blessings. He convinces people that God is too loving to condemn or punish anyone. He wants us to ignore God’s words like “sin”, “repent”, “discipline”, “abomination”, “justice”, “judgment” and “lake of fire”. You don’t hear these words of God mentioned much anymore.
Yes of course, we all love to hear about God’s love for us; His peace that surpasses all understanding; His grace; and Heaven. Yet, we can’t leave out what He says is evil and what He expects of us. We have certain paths that we’re supposed to follow and others that we are to avoid. We can’t take any path that we like, even if it looks good, sounds good, feels good or because mobs of others, who call themselves Christian, are taking them. Following the majority is not our standard.
We need to follow His constant will specifically for our life and destiny, even if we walk a path alone with God, like Elijah did. What would have become of Elijah, had he followed the paths taken by the counterfeit children of God?
When someone walks around pretending to be from and of God (a Christian), God doesn’t like that. He curses them.
“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8
How many today, preach a gospel that withholds all the ways of God that he gave us or replaces portions of God’s Truth with man-made religion? What did God just say that these people are?
Considering there are so many denominations, sects and cults claiming to be Christian, how can we spot a counterfeit Christian?
Actually, I think it’s quite easy. Take a Bible and see if what someone is doing, fits with what God says they should be doing. Anything missing, anything switched out for something else?
It’s always amazed me how it could be possible, that people will spend years in Colleges, Universities and seminaries to become expert leaders on one book (the Bible), yet they can’t or won’t follow what God plainly says. If someone went to mechanics school to learn how to put a car engine in to make a car work, would we consider them to be quite stupid if, after years of training, they insisted on putting engines in upside down or backwards or that it was acceptable to leave some parts on the ground or to substitute car engine parts with bicycle parts? Yet, all over the world, God’s “licensed” mechanics are doing this from pulpits, in books and on TV and great mobs of people are happily following them over the cliffs like lemmings!
It stuns my mind!
Is it any wonder why, with such “mechanics”, that people can’t get their engines started or running with God?
Operating in religion under flesh-guided goals and standards, makes a person a counterfeit Christian, according to God.
I’ve heard many over the years who have complained and even mockingly laughed, that I’m too “black and white” on the Bible. Another one that I like is, “You’re too heavenly minded to be any earthly good”. I think that one is my favorite from counterfeit Christians.
Years ago, I asked someone who was attending a “church”, why he went there, when they weren’t following God’s standards. This person was a graduate from a Christian College and was very familiar with supernatural gifts, signs and wonders and spiritual warfare. Where he went certainly looked the part… pretty building, with friendly, tongue-speakers. Nice, but God is looking for all of His guidelines to be followed, meaning, that people are to be trained to become supernaturally equipped, meat-eating, fire-breathers of God, not bottle-fed, pew-sitting, religious lemmings. These kinds of places rob God of His full glory that is His due. This guy told me that he went there, because it was the “best” he could find! His attendance there, meant that he was willing to sell his birthright, like Esau did, for a bowl of stew.
We’re not required nor expected to accept anything that is less than God’s inheritance and fullness for us. Actually, He tells us to avoid counterfeiters!
To finish the sad story, this person and his mom attended this place for many years, until the “pastor” asked them not to attend anymore. They were kicked out! They had been falsely accused by someone (with a jezebel spirit) that wanted them out. Again, God’s standard of how to handle such a situation was overridden by this false leader.
You might ask, did they learn their lesson? No. They found another place, he told me, that was the “next best” that they could find. Another counterfeit. Another bowl of stew.
Not for me. I’m a God-pleaser. People can follow some counterfeit path that their religious comfort-zone finds acceptable, but putting lipstick on a pig doesn’t work for me or for God.
Counterfeiters think that they can mostly do what God says, but can live in gray (counterfeit) areas too. God says, “No you can’t”!
“Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened.” 1 Corinthians 5:6-7
All should keep in mind, that one day each of us is going to hear a word ring out. That word is, “Next”!
An angel will escort you up to your place of judgment…
“But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12: 36-37
Counterfeit Christians will then hear these words…
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” Matthew 7:21-23
Then the book of their life will be opened…
“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20: 11-15
Those who walked with God, won’t fear the word, “Next”! We will joyfully race up to God in excitement. We will then receive our full inheritance and all our treasures, as true saints, royal-priests and joint-heirs with Christ!
If you are a counterfeit Christian, in ignorance or deliberately, it’s time to repent. Set aside your false doctrines, which are sin, to embrace the whole Truth of God. Examine His Word to see what you need to repair in your life so you can walk with Him to fulfill your destiny and to remove the counterfeit curse from your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to assist you with this process and to help you move in the supernatural. Your life needs to be God-directed, daily, just as Jesus did and taught us.
Anything else is a counterfeit.
